Slow May

I was just looking at my sales figures across all my stores because I realized how slow this month was and came to the further realization that May is ALWAYS slow. What gives? Obviously my 2010 figures for the month aren't in there yet because the month isn't over, but I'm surprised to find that it is a consistently slow month. Why May? Anyone else who tracks their sales notice anything similar?

  1. My shop hasn't been too bad this month so far. I have done a little advertising, so that is probably helping. This year hasn't been as good as last year though. It is so hit and miss....I just still plug along!

  2. My year overall has actually been better than normal, which has made this that much stranger!

  3. When I worked in retail on 100% commission I freaked hated april and may.

People were done with their winter shopping and they were holding out until it was a bit warmer to get their summer stuff.

Even if you items are seasonally related I think when people are spending money on one thing they are more willing to spend it on other things as well.
